US NAVAIR (Naval Air Systems Command) - 60th anniversary

US NAVAIR (Naval Air Systems Command) -  60th anniversary

US NAVAIR – Naval Air Systems Command: 60th Anniversary charts the six‑decade evolution of NAVAIR. One of the US Navy’s three Systems Commands, the US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is the principal provider for the Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE).

Although its history can be traced back more than 100 years, to the earliest days of US Naval Aviation, the command celebrates its 60th Anniversary in 2026. Established as the successor to the Navy’s Bureau of Naval Weapons, NAVAIR is headquartered in Lexington Park, Maryland, but is responsible for operations conducted at eight locations across the continental United States and another overseas.

It is responsible for major flight test and aviation maintenance facilities and units that ensure Naval Aviation remains at the tip of the spear.

This volume provides a look at the command’s history and structure and its assigned bases, centre's, squadrons and aircraft.
