Bristol Aircraft, No 72 in the Aviation Archive series, is dedicated to the fighters, airliners and helicopters made by one of the great pioneering aviation companies.
Bristol’s first aircraft was the 40mph Boxkite, made of fabric, wood and wire, and the last fixed-wing design produced under the Bristol name was the 1,440mph stainless steel Type 188. Only 52 years separated their first flights. In between were the Fighter, Blenheim, Beaufighter, Sycamore, Brabazon and many others.
